COMPOSITION
Each HPMC capsule contains: Reduced L‑Glutathione (as liposomal/phospholipid-encapsulated complex) — 500 mg Excipients — q.s. (phospholipid matrix; HPMC shell) Vegetarian capsule. Free from added gluten.
What Epithiox is
Epithiox is a phospholipid-encapsulated formulation of reduced L‑glutathione delivering 500 mg per capsule. Glutathione (γ‑glutamyl‑L‑cysteinyl‑glycine) is the most abundant antioxidant inside human cells, present at concentrations comparable to glucose and potassium. It is central to how cells neutralise oxidative stress, detoxify reactive compounds, and maintain redox balance.
Endogenous glutathione is not fixed. Tissue levels fall with age, and are further depleted by infection, sustained oxidative load, hepatic dysfunction, smoking, alcohol intake and chronic illness. Epithiox is formulated to support glutathione status in clinical settings where restoring intracellular redox capacity is a therapeutic priority.
Mechanism of action
Glutathione works through several interconnected roles:
Direct antioxidant defence — serves as the substrate for glutathione peroxidases (GPx), neutralising hydrogen peroxide and lipid hydroperoxides before they damage membranes and DNA.
Detoxification — as the substrate for glutathione‑S‑transferases (GSTs), it conjugates xenobiotics and reactive intermediates, tagging them for biliary and renal excretion.
Redox cycling — maintains other antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E) in their active reduced state and preserves protein thiols essential to cellular function.
Pigmentation pathway — modulates eumelanin synthesis at the tyrosinase step, the basis of glutathione's studied effect on skin pigmentation.
Why liposomal delivery
Conventional oral glutathione faces a well-documented hurdle: the intact tripeptide is largely broken down in the gastrointestinal tract, limiting how much reaches the circulation unchanged. Epithiox uses phospholipid encapsulation to shield the molecule through gastric transit and improve its delivery — the same rationale behind the liposomal delivery systems studied for raising body glutathione stores.
The HPMC shell is chosen deliberately: its lower moisture content reduces oxidation of glutathione's sensitive thiol (–SH) group during shelf life, and Alu‑Alu blistering provides the moisture and oxygen barrier this oxidation-prone active requires.
Directions for use
One capsule once daily, preferably on an empty stomach, or as directed by the prescribing physician. Swallow whole with water; do not chew. Best taken consistently at the same time each day.
Glutathione is generally well tolerated. To be used under medical supervision.
FAQ
What is Epithiox? Epithiox is a liposomal L‑glutathione capsule from Amplify Pharma, delivering 500 mg of phospholipid-encapsulated reduced glutathione — the body's principal intracellular antioxidant.
What is glutathione used for? Glutathione supports the body's antioxidant defences, helps neutralise oxidative stress, and aids detoxification of reactive compounds. Epithiox is intended as a nutritional adjunct under medical guidance.
Why is Epithiox "liposomal"? Ordinary oral glutathione is largely broken down in the gut. Liposomal (phospholipid) encapsulation is used to protect the molecule through digestion and improve how much reaches the body.
How should Epithiox be taken? Typically one capsule once daily, preferably on an empty stomach, or as directed by your physician.
Is Epithiox vegetarian? Yes — it uses an HPMC (plant-based) capsule shell.
Is Epithiox a medicine? No. It is a nutraceutical adjunct intended for use on the recommendation of a registered medical practitioner, and is not a substitute for prescribed treatment.
